In our new fashion exhibition, we peak through the gateway to another time. Here we encounter everything from studio-sewn dream dresses, to a little patched up child’s jacket, which ended up as insulation for a croft. What can be learned from a single piece of clothing? What can fashion reveal about its time? And what impact can the museum’s fashion collection have on us today?
The exhibition focuses on the era around 1880-1930, when clothing factories pops up in a growing Gothenburg, changing people’s perception of fashion and consumption, as well as of each other.
