A cheque writer made of black enamelled metal with brass detailing. On one side at the front is a handle. The machine is also called a cheque stamping machine or protectograph. It was used to protect a cheque from unauthorised changes to either the amount or the signature.It is 42 cm long, 13 cm high and 14 cm wide. It has a metal section that can be opened out and then the machine is 23 cm wide.It is made by the Todd Protectograph Co. of Rochester, USA, probably in the 1920s.
