Square silver coins from the 1540s and 50s. The square shape is a result of stamping a sheet of metal and then cutting it into pieces for the coins. On the front, there is a “G” with a crown, the number 15 on one side, and the exact year on the other. The “G” represents Gustav Vasa. On the back, you can see the three crowns of the Swedish national coat of arms and the coin’s value. The coins are 1.5-2.5 cm wide and weigh between 3.7 and 22 grams. The thickness varies, with the thickest resembling a piece of toffee.
