This is Sweden’s first gold coin. It is a round gold coin from 1568 called a Hungarian gyllen. The obverse depicts Erik XIV’s portrait in profile, surrounded by his title in Latin. The reverse shows a sceptre falling down from Heaven and Erik’s motto. The Latin text says: “God gives to whom he wants”.The coin is 2.3 cm in diameter and weighs 4.11 grams. It has a gold content of 987/1000.
