Painted box with nibs

A box of nibs for fountain pens. Inside the box, there is a large number of metal nibs. The user would insert a nib into a pen holder and then dip the nib into ink. These nibs are manufactured by the company William Mitchell in Birmingham, England, and sold at N.J. Gumperts stationery store in Gothenburg. The model of the nib is called “Viking Steel Pens”. On the lid of the box, there is a painting of a Viking ship. The long sides of the box are decorated with yellow dragon motifs on a blue background. It was donated to the City Museum by the trading firm A. Magnus & Co.
