Office cabinet
A cabinet from the trading firm A. Magnus & Co, located at Magasinsgatan 24, Gothenburg. The cabinet consists of an upper and a lower section in wood, both equipped with double doors. It is made of red mahogany imitation. The cabinet was situated in the largest office room of the trading firm. In the upper section, there are shelves and compartments marked with alphabet letters for sorting bills and invoices. There are also eight drawers. Six of them are labeled “Reverses”, “Receipts”, “Invoices”, “Miscellaneous Papers”, “Bills”, and “Second Warrants”. It’s difficult to read what’s written on the other two drawers. The cabinet was manufactured in 1872 and measures 230 cm in height, 115 cm in length, and 53 cm in depth. It was acquired by the City Museum in November 1974 as a gift from the wholesalers Einar and Leif Henriques, Gothenburg.
