Brown box with nibs
A box of nibs for fountain pens. Inside the box, there is a large number of metal nibs. The user would insert a nib into a pen holder and then dip the nib into ink. These nibs are manufactured by the company William Mitchell in Birmingham, England, and are called “William Mitchell’s Improved Metallic Pens No. 088”. The box is made of brown patterned cardboard and has a black label with gold-colored text. On the label, two medals can be seen. On the box, it says “Maker to H.M. King Edward VII, Exposition de 1855: Medaille dé 1ère Classe”. It was donated to the City Museum by the trading firm A. Magnus & Co.
